內(nèi)容概要

If you have ever been to a Chinese restaurant anywhere in the world and ordered a beer, chances are it was from Oingdao. You may know the name, but what behind it is worth exploring. Unlike many major Asian cities, Oingdao is not a collection of high-rises and concrete. It is unlike any other city on its side of the planet because it was built by Europeans and holds on to that flavor. You do not know you are in Asia when walking through Oingdao, and the location next to the ocean makes it that much better. However, Oingdao is more than oceans and beautiful buildings. Its beginnings as a trade hub for Germany gave this once small fishing village the connections and culture needed to succeed on a global scale.Massive amounts of manufacturing have been conducted and the city is now an appliance Mecca in hina. Not only that, the region is also Chinas center for production of beer and wine. Qingdao has found a niche as being the place in China that makes the good things in life. And, hopefully, this book will help shed some light on why the city itself is one of those very things. Surf, sand and Serious progress is not just a group of words. In Qingdao, they are simply observations.

版權(quán)頁(yè):插圖:The city is also full of gems. There are many tiny little alleys and places that the sunlight hits just right at the proper time of day. And walking around discovering them is one of the best parts about Oingdao. For this reason it seems everyone is walking around downtown Oingdao with a camera in hand, just in case. The way the sun hits much of the city at certain times of day makes it extra enjoyable to take photographs. In the downtown area you wilt find all manner of stores including high-end western outlets. The downtown is vibrant and bustling, mainly due to the city's dense nature. An abandoned air-raid shelter converted into a market is just one of the many surprises that await visitors. A tour of the original German train station is another way visitors spend their time in Qingdao. Such unique pieces of the city draw visitors from all over. However, though it is becoming more and more international, it has yet to be re-discovered by many foreign visitors.Nightlife in Qingdao is fairly vibrant, especially among the Chinese. The western foreign communities are not quite large enough to have busy bars and pubs the likes that are found in larger Asian cities, though there are a few of them in the city with friendly expatriate locals. However, there are plenty of Chinese-style nightspots. Due to the reputation Oing dao enjoys as a vacation city, many of the Chinese tourists are in the mood to party. The bulk of that is done on Beer Street, or Piliu die in Chinese. The street was built not long ago outside of the gates oft he ?singtao Brewery to draw attention to the beer drinking and making culture in the city. It is a few blocks long and lined with Chinese restaurants that sets draft beer. Friendly faces and roving musicians are a common scene. The musicians play upbeat Chinese folk songs for alittle spare change.

Qingdao's red tiles, green trees, verdant mountains and blue sea compose the best scene in China. The surroundings overshadow the celestial mountains and pavilions and are beyond the capacity of poetry. ——Kang Youwef, a leading reformer of the fling Dynastyflingdao plays a leading role at the core of the Shandong Peninsula's blue economic zone. Oingdao is aiming to become a pioneering region of China's development in marine economy and science. These are a core area of the region and a base for marine research & development as well as high-end industries. It is also blazing trails for marine environmental protection. ——The Development Plan of the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone (2011)The book brings out all the charm O/ngdao offers. I am sure readers will want to visit this prosperous city, wandering through the streets, seeing the architecture, enjoying beer, wine and good seafood They may find it a great reward to go and visit some of the museums or spend their holiday in the city. ——Huana Youvi, Vice President, Federation of International TranslatorsBecause of its proximity to Japan and Korea and its roots as a German colony, Qingdao was a natural destination for foreign investment starting in the late 1970s. Today the city is a prime tourist destination, with a beer festival and a yacht culture. But it isn't exactly Nantucket: This year its busy port will open the world's largest iron ore terminal. ——Fortune magazine 2010 survey of China's 5 best new cities for business
