前言

　　教育部《大學英語課程教學要求》（以下簡稱《課程要求》）明確指出：“我國幅員遼闊，各地區(qū)、各高校之間情況差異較大，大學英語教學應(yīng)按照分類指導、因材施教的原則，以適應(yīng)個性化教學的實際需要?！薄洞髮W基礎(chǔ)英語教程》即是依據(jù)《教學要求》編寫的一套大學英語教材，主要適用于全國各高等院校藝術(shù)、體育類學生、民族地區(qū)學生和其他一些大學入學時英語基礎(chǔ)相對薄弱的非英語專業(yè)大學生.旨在使學生通過本教材的系統(tǒng)學習，在英語語言知識、應(yīng)用技能、學習策略和跨文化交際方面能夠達到《教學要求》中規(guī)定的高等學校非英語專業(yè)本科畢業(yè)生應(yīng)達到的基本要求?！　∫?、編寫原則　　《大學基礎(chǔ)英語教程》在編寫過程中力圖體現(xiàn)以下編寫原則：　　1.以《課程要求》為依據(jù)，重點培養(yǎng)學生英語綜合應(yīng)用能力?！　?.以人為本.因人制宜，始終考慮適用對象的現(xiàn)有英語水平和實際學習需求?！　?.旨在使學生通過本教材的學習，做到學有所用，學以致用，以用促學，學用統(tǒng)一。力爭使語言知識的傳授與語言運用能力的提高做到相輔相成、有機互補，既不片面強調(diào)語言知識的傳授，也不片面強調(diào)沒有堅實基礎(chǔ)的語言能力的提高?！　《?、教材特色　　與國內(nèi)其他大學英語優(yōu)秀教材相比，本教程的特色主要體現(xiàn)為“唯實”、“簡約”、“實用”、“教育”四個方面。洞察適用對象外語水平和學習需求之實并以之為本，教材編著與設(shè)計力求因應(yīng)適用對象之求并扼之以要，高度重視學生綜合文化素養(yǎng)的培養(yǎng)以及所學外語知識和技能的實際應(yīng)用，寓人文素養(yǎng)與道德教育于外語學習的潛移默化之中。

　　1.International Olympic Committee　　The International Olympic Committee is an organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, created by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas on June 23, 1894. Its membership consists of 205 National Olympic Committees.　　The IOC organizes the modern Olympic Games held in summer and winter, every four years. The first Summer Olympics organized by the International Olympic Committee was held in Athens, Greece, in 1896; the first Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Until 1992, both Summer and Winter Olympics were held in the same year. After that year, however, the IOC shifted the Winter Olympics to the even years between Summer Games, to help space the planning of the two events two years apart from one another.2. 2000 Sydney Olympics　　The Sydney 2000 Summer Olympic Games or the Millennium Games/Games of the New Millennium, officially known as the Games of the XXVII Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event which was celebrated between 13 September and 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was the second time that the Summer Olympics were held in the Southern Hemisphere, the first one being in Melbourne in 1956.3. 2004 Athens Olympics.　　The 2004 Summer Olympic Games,　officially known as the Games of the XXVIII Olym piad, were a premier international multi-sport event held in Athens, Greece from August 13　to August 29, 2004 with the motto Welcome Home. 10,625 athletes competed, some 600 more than expected, accompanied by 5,501 team officials from 201 countries.　There were 301 medal events in 28 different sports.　Athens 2004 marked the first time since the 1896 Sum mer Olympics that all countries with a National Olympic Committee were in attendance.　　……
