前言

  《致用英語綜合教程》(共四冊)是一套新生代英語專業(yè)教材,殫力于語言的學(xué)能培養(yǎng),供攻讀英語專業(yè)的一、二年級大學(xué)本科生以及具有相應(yīng)水平的英語學(xué)習(xí)者使用,特別薦引于應(yīng)用型英語專業(yè)的教學(xué)?! ≡谖覈挠⒄Z教學(xué)改革中,教材的創(chuàng)新本來就顯得有些滯后。近幾年,英語專業(yè)的教學(xué)創(chuàng)新與教材編寫無論在理論與實踐的探討上、在教學(xué)界的關(guān)注度上、在學(xué)術(shù)的活躍度上,以及在教材的更新頻度上,又都不夠活躍?,F(xiàn)有的英語專業(yè)教材存在的主要問題是:有些失之于“經(jīng)院式”,偏重于文學(xué)作品或20世紀以前經(jīng)典作家的作品,與現(xiàn)實生活中真實的、鮮活的語境以及學(xué)生未來職場的實際需求相去甚遠,致使學(xué)生的“書本知識”同“實際技能”不相匹配;有些則失之于凸顯教師的“學(xué)術(shù)權(quán)威性”,而忽視了學(xué)生的感受,把他們置于完全被動接受的地位,表現(xiàn)為信息量過大、知識點過繁、練習(xí)量過多,形成了“滿書灌”的問題,使學(xué)生眼花繚亂,疲于應(yīng)付。單元內(nèi)容大大超過規(guī)定學(xué)時的負荷,在教學(xué)實踐中很容易引發(fā)“滿堂灌”的弊端。針對這些問題,我們對英語專業(yè)的教學(xué)現(xiàn)狀進行了大量調(diào)研,對國內(nèi)外同類教材進行了對比、分析、思辨,認為對英語專業(yè)教材進行積極的探索與改革勢在必行,于是向社會奉獻出此套教科書?! ∫?、編寫理念  一套較好的教材應(yīng)該滿足以下條件:選材新而且涵蓋面廣;知識點的介紹重點突出、模塊鏈接、貼近實用;項目設(shè)計以“任務(wù)型”為主,陳述簡約,突出“實戰(zhàn)”;體例力求多樣化、趣味性、助推式,這也是本套教材所力求實現(xiàn)的特色。在教材編寫的過程中,我們始終把體現(xiàn)學(xué)能培養(yǎng)與潛質(zhì)開發(fā)作為編書的核心理念,多方面地幫助學(xué)生掌握學(xué)習(xí)策略、求知方法論、思辨能力、實踐動口動手能力、語言應(yīng)用的創(chuàng)新能力。本教材之所以冠以“致用”二字,志在引導(dǎo)學(xué)生“學(xué)以習(xí)得”和“學(xué)以致用”也。英國著名詩人托馬斯·莫爾(nlomas Moore)曾說:“One of the greatest Droblems of our time is that many are schooled but few are edLlcated… Education is,not the Diling on of learning,information,data,facts,skills,or abilities——that’s training or instruction-but is rather。making visible what is hidden as a seed.”莫爾的話從一個側(cè)面道出了對教育的本質(zhì)要求。的確,教育的功能不能局限于灌輸具體的知識,核心的問題是要培育“種子”并造就它釋放出自己的全部潛能。教材的編著也應(yīng)該具備這樣深邃的認知和多維的視角?! ≡谖⒂^層面,我們力圖在教材中既融入語言學(xué)的語用學(xué)、英漢語對比、認知語言學(xué)、二語習(xí)得、語塊理論里與教學(xué)相關(guān)的智慧,又吸收交際法、任務(wù)型教學(xué)、自主學(xué)習(xí)等理論的精華,讓英語教學(xué)更有效果。

  Last weekend my wife and I invited our extended family to ourhome to celebrate our daughter's birthday. During the celebration myyoung nephew spent the entire time on my computer playing asimulated war game. My brother-in-law and I were chatting near byand it struck us that in generations past, his son, my nephew, wouldhave been outside playing with his friends. But now the little fellowgoes on line to play his games against his friends in cyberspace.  It seems to me that the Internet is a powerful tool that presents anopportunity for the advancement of the acquisition and application ofknowledge. However, based on my personal experience I canunderstand how, as they surf the web some folks might be confrontedwith cognitive overload19.
