內(nèi)容概要
《大學英語》系列教材(全新版)聽說教程是一套為21世紀大不非英語專業(yè)學生編寫的教程。該教程旨在幫助學生增強在語篇水平上的理解能力;提高他們對所聽材料的分析、歸納、判斷和推理能力;全面培養(yǎng)學生聽的能力和口頭表達能力。本教程在編寫中努力注意以下五點:1、自始至終以語篇訓練為主線。從一開始就培養(yǎng)學生在聽的過程中選抓中心思想后抓要點,并要求其養(yǎng)成習慣。2、改變以往教材中每篇材料均配有生詞、詞組的編寫模式。3、各類練習均編有可供選擇的材料,為因材施教創(chuàng)造條件。4、多方為學生提供口語表達的素材。學生可根據(jù);Language Focus,Communicative Function,Additional Vocabulary 以及Model Dialogues中給予的用語開展口語活動。5、引調(diào)各部分的有機配合以及與綜合教程的橫向聯(lián)系。

Home Listening(1) Gunslinging (持槍) in America Gunslinging is a social problem in the United States. Sam Walker was not an average American gun owner, for he had no interest in hunting at all. The average gun owner owns at least three guns, but Walker owned only one, which friends persuaded him to buy for the sole purpose of protecting himself and his family in their suburban Houston home. Walker didnt even particularly like guns. He still hadnt known much about his new weapon when his burglar alarm went off one weekday morning last December. His security company notified (通知) him of a break-in. Walker rushed home from work, quietly entered the house, took the gun out from the place where he had left it for safekeeping, and, hearing a noise, moved stealthily up the stairs and opened a closet door. He saw a movement, a figure, and in a split second (一剎那) fired. The smoothly oiled gun worked perfectly, andWalkers aim was true. A body fell to the floor. It was his 16-year-old daughter. She had cut school (逃學) that day and had hidden in the closet to avoid her father. It wound up (落得……下場) costing her her life.
