Emperors used seals to proclaim their decrees to their people, officials used seals to exercise their power, merchants used seals to demonstrate their credibility, landlords used seals to enclose felds, and the common people used seals to protect their small properties. Gradually seals became the representative and evidence of personal identity, and even today we are still using seals.

作者簡介

?？苏\，1983年畢業(yè)于北京大學(xué)歷史系，在遼寧省博物館從事書畫保管與鑒定，1987年畢業(yè)于中國社會科學(xué)院研究生院歷史系，到中國藝術(shù)研究院美術(shù)研究所從事藝術(shù)史研究，1994年至1997年作為東京大學(xué)外國人客員研究員、日本國文部省特聘海外藝術(shù)家在日本從事研究與創(chuàng)作?，F(xiàn)為中國藝術(shù)研究院美術(shù)研究所研究員、教授。 牛克誠研究員多年從事中國古代色彩繪畫研究，主持了國家藝術(shù)科學(xué)“十五”規(guī)劃國家級重點(diǎn)課題《中國傳統(tǒng)色彩學(xué)》項(xiàng)目。其學(xué)術(shù)專著《色彩的中國繪畫－中國繪畫樣式與風(fēng)格歷史的展開》獲“國家圖書獎(jiǎng)”、“全國優(yōu)秀藝術(shù)圖書一等獎(jiǎng)”、“中國藝術(shù)研究院2000至2003年度科研成果優(yōu)秀著作一等獎(jiǎng)”等。同時(shí)從事重彩畫創(chuàng)作，獲中國美術(shù)家協(xié)會與中國工筆畫學(xué)會聯(lián)合頒發(fā)的“重彩畫研究與創(chuàng)作特別成就獎(jiǎng)”。 牛克誠研究員撰寫的《色彩的中國繪畫－中國繪畫樣式與風(fēng)格歷史的展開》專著是國內(nèi)外藝術(shù)史學(xué)界的第一部中國色彩繪畫通史。它以“色彩”這一全新視點(diǎn)審視中國繪畫，用“樣式與風(fēng)格”的筆法描繪出色彩中國畫“語言的歷史”。 它用縝密的研究，剖析了中國古代繪畫中色彩語匯的內(nèi)部結(jié)構(gòu)，闡明了它與水墨語匯的彼此消長，并進(jìn)而探尋了色彩繪畫在中國文化背景中發(fā)展演進(jìn)的內(nèi)在理路。 它用作品分析與語義考證相結(jié)合的手法，梳理了有關(guān)色彩繪畫諸多概念的含義及流變；在“細(xì)讀原典”中，鉤沉了許多久被淹沒的繪畫史實(shí)，為中國色彩繪畫史的研究提供了豐富的資料。 它用審慎的眼光重新考察中國繪畫史，對畫史上有關(guān)“文人”、“筆墨”、“寫意”及“書法性”等成見，提出了明確的質(zhì)疑；它以超越畫史傳統(tǒng)認(rèn)識的膽識，重新評價(jià)了一些畫家、作品及繪畫現(xiàn)象，并提出了對整個(gè)中國古典繪畫發(fā)展史的認(rèn)識體系。 它以獨(dú)特而敏銳的思考，提起了許多具有進(jìn)一步探究價(jià)值的學(xué)術(shù)問題，從而開啟了中國色彩繪畫研究的未來想象空間。因此，這部學(xué)術(shù)著作，對于中國繪畫色彩問題的研究具有十分創(chuàng)造的價(jià)值。
