前言

　　本書(shū)是為適應(yīng)英語(yǔ)課程改革的需要編寫(xiě)的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作選修課教材，反映了十多年來(lái)教學(xué)改革的成果。書(shū)面表達(dá)是英語(yǔ)聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫(xiě)四項(xiàng)語(yǔ)言技能中最具挑戰(zhàn)性的輸出型語(yǔ)言技能，寫(xiě)作水平的高低能有效地檢測(cè)學(xué)生語(yǔ)言的綜合能力，因此所有的語(yǔ)言考試都把寫(xiě)作作為一項(xiàng)重要指標(biāo)。全書(shū)圍繞各類英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作考試題型，通過(guò)課堂講授和課內(nèi)外練習(xí)，幫助學(xué)生切實(shí)提高英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作水平和考試能力。　　本書(shū)與多數(shù)應(yīng)試類教材不同的是其編寫(xiě)理念。目前國(guó)內(nèi)的英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作教材大體上可以分為兩類。一類是結(jié)構(gòu)-成品法教材，即從單詞、句子、段落到篇章的寫(xiě)作介紹，到應(yīng)用文以及學(xué)術(shù)論文的寫(xiě)作。另外一類是體裁-成品法教材，以不同體裁的成品分專題組織介紹寫(xiě)作知識(shí)和規(guī)范。

內(nèi)容概要

本書(shū)圍繞各類英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作考試題型，通過(guò)課堂講授和課內(nèi)外練習(xí)，幫助學(xué)生切實(shí)提高英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作水平和考試能力。全書(shū)分為八章，每章由三個(gè)話題相關(guān)的單元構(gòu)成。各章有鮮明的主題，選題與各類寫(xiě)作測(cè)試的編寫(xiě)原則吻合，均為大學(xué)生活流行話題。每個(gè)單元圍繞話題設(shè)計(jì)的任務(wù)嵌入寫(xiě)作知識(shí)、策略介紹和訓(xùn)練，做到“learning throuGh doing”。本書(shū)的使用對(duì)象主要是高校大學(xué)生。針對(duì)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)需求，把學(xué)生可能遇到的所有英文寫(xiě)作形式和要求都涵蓋訓(xùn)練之中，還提供了許多實(shí)用的英語(yǔ)句型和表達(dá)方式。 本教材由具有多年教學(xué)和研究經(jīng)驗(yàn)的教師編寫(xiě)，是北京市2008年“北京(地區(qū))大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)改革”項(xiàng)目的研究成果之一。

　　Remember the difference between dialogue and debate. Debate has a role in our academicand political lives， but it is not the only framework for discussion. Here are some differencesbetween debate and dialogue. In debate， we emphasize differences in a win/lose fashion； increase separation， and distinguish agendas. Debate tends to be driven by individual interest and advocacy and exploits weaknesses. Dialogue seeks to identify underlying meaning and principles， builds ommunity， and embraces differences while highlighting commonalities. Consider the importance of organized discussions. To address the many issues that arise during these challenging times. Such discussions offer a structured time for people to talk， especially if theyre talking in the hallways anyway. If there is already conflict， or high risk for conflict， the meetings may not make things better， but they will rarely make things worse. Have ground rules， and enforce them. Go over ground rules at the beginning of the meeting. Get verbal or non-verbal agreement from everyone （such as， people nodding "yes" ）.
