新編英語實用教程（第2冊）

前言

　　作為一套供網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育專升本以及高升本學(xué)生使用的英語教材，《英語實用教程》自出版以來一直得到廣大師生的熱情支持。在出版近十年之際，我們對原有教材進(jìn)行了內(nèi)容和形式上的全面更新，根據(jù)國家網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育考試委員會制定頒布的網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育統(tǒng)考課程考試大綱，編寫了《新編英語實用教程》?！　　缎戮幱⒄Z實用教程》充分考慮網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育的特點，即成人學(xué)習(xí)、業(yè)余學(xué)習(xí)和網(wǎng)絡(luò)學(xué)習(xí)。在教程的編寫中，結(jié)合網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育學(xué)生的實際水平，針對自學(xué)為主的需求，充分利用多媒體教學(xué)手段，幫助學(xué)生掌握相關(guān)詞匯和語法知識，培養(yǎng)和訓(xùn)練讀、寫、譯、說的技能。教程共四冊，包括：《新編英語實用教程》（配有光盤）（1、2冊）和《新編英語實用教程學(xué)習(xí)指導(dǎo)書》（1、2冊），教學(xué)PPT課件及其他相關(guān)參考資料也將陸續(xù)推出?！　　缎戮幱⒄Z實用教程》緊扣新頒布的統(tǒng)考大綱，重點突出，閃容精煉?！　“凑沾缶V詞匯表編排教材詞匯：以大綱中大學(xué)英語C級詞匯作為學(xué)生已掌握的基本詞匯，在此基礎(chǔ)上，分別列出大學(xué)英語B級詞匯以及超綱詞（帶*的單詞）。標(biāo)識清楚，詞義全面，例句充分，方便學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)、掌握大綱所要求的詞匯、短語及其用法。按大綱中所包含題型——交際英語、閱讀、完形填空、詞匯語法、翻譯、寫作——在本教程各單元練習(xí)中均有體現(xiàn)，既使學(xué)生熟悉統(tǒng)考題型，也訓(xùn)練學(xué)生掌握各種技能，并在此基礎(chǔ)上熟練運用解題技巧。　　《新編英語實用教程》采用主題教學(xué)模式，即每個單元的課文設(shè)置圍繞一個主題，提供大量相互聯(lián)系的語言樣本，語匯的復(fù)現(xiàn)率高。根據(jù)語言認(rèn)知理論，反復(fù)的、同～主題的語言輸入有助于學(xué)生對所學(xué)語言內(nèi)容的消化和吸收。本教程選材新穎，內(nèi)容豐富，趣味性、知識性強，能激發(fā)學(xué)生的自學(xué)興趣。

內(nèi)容概要

　　本書為《新編英語實用教程》學(xué)生用書第2冊，共分為十個單元，每單元由四個部分組成，即Focus on
Reading，F(xiàn)ocus on Grammar，F(xiàn)ocus on Writing和Focus on
Speaking。第一部分FoCUS on Reading包括三篇文章：Basic Reading(基本閱讀課文)，Extensive
Reading(泛讀課文)和Supplementary Reading(補充閱讀)。Basic
Reading為主課文，是每個單元學(xué)習(xí)的重點，包括生詞表、注釋、課文理解練習(xí)、詞匯語法練習(xí)、翻譯練習(xí)以及完形填空練習(xí)。Extensive
Reading作為主課文的補充，同樣配有課文理解練習(xí)、詞匯語法練習(xí)、翻譯練習(xí)。Supplementary
Reading采用一篇短文配五個閱讀理解選擇題的形式，可用作學(xué)生對自己閱讀理解能力的自測。本教程根據(jù)網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育學(xué)生的特點和需要，增設(shè)Focus
on Grammar，即語法知識體系的介紹以及配套的練習(xí)。其后的Focus on
Writing提供作文題目以及中英文的參考詞匯；Focus on
Speaking則按照交際功能劃分，各單元該部分內(nèi)容由一段對話和數(shù)道交際英語練習(xí)題組成。

　　Waiter Peeters， dean of the International Space University~ in Strasbourg， said that whathas been regarded as the stuff of science fiction is close to becoming reality.　　He is among a number of scientists who are convinced that "space tourism" and sub-orbitai point to point travel" （SPTP） are on the Point of becoming a flourishing industry.4The former is aimed at the rich who are able to dig deep in their pockets for the experience ofspace travel which on Virgin Galactic5 is $200，000 or around 125，000.　　But this is just a staging post for the ultimate goal， traveling through space to get from oneside of the globe to the other in a couple of hours.6　　The advocates of SPTP see it as the 21st century equivalent of taking a trip on Concorde——and appealing to the same sort of clients.7 But such travel will not come cheap. One estimate suggests a ticket for a round trip taking in London， Tokyo and New York would cost more than~43，000.8 Mr. Peeters， however， thinks that the fares in the middle of the next decade will be theequivalent of what passengers were paying to fly on Concorde during its peak hours.9 The fareswould also be comparable to the amount of money which people paid to take the firsttransatlantic flight in 1939.
