作者簡介
鐘述孔,1949年畢業(yè)于四川大學(xué)英國語文學(xué)系。1950年入外交部亞洲司工人并兼任外交部高級翻譯。1965年后,任北京外國語學(xué)院副教授、外交學(xué)院兼職教授,后任聯(lián)合國“中國譯員培訓(xùn)部”兼職教授。1980年起,參與一系列國際會議。后出任聯(lián)合國總部技術(shù)合作促進發(fā)展部政策與發(fā)展規(guī)劃司司長。1990年任外交部國際公司銜參贊;曾出席國際經(jīng)濟、發(fā)展、環(huán)境領(lǐng)域的一系列多邊談判會議;后任外交部環(huán)境問題特別顧問至今。目前仍受聘外學(xué)院的兼職教授。著作有:《英漢翻譯手冊》,《實用口譯手冊》、《21世紀(jì)的挑戰(zhàn)與機遇》、《國際經(jīng)濟關(guān)系和全球環(huán)境與發(fā)展》等書。

EX. 7 Interpret the Following Parts of Procedural Brief (E- C) ( i ) Opening of the Meeting and Adoption of the Agenda (1)The 1924th meeting/of the Security Council/is now calledto order. (2)The provisional Agenda/for this afternoons meeting/is be-fore the Council in document S/Agenda/1271.//If I hear no objec-tion,/I shall consider the agenda adopted. (3)There being no objection, the agenda is adopted. (4)I declare the agenda adopted. ( ii ) Expression of Thanks to the Retiring President (5) In accordance with the usual practice, I should like to pay atribute to my predecessor, who ably presided over the Council duringthe month of May. (6)Before the Council proceeds to the subject of our meetingtoday I should like, right away, to discharge a most pleasant duty.///It is that of conveying, on behalf of the Council and on my own be-half, our gratitude to the Ambassador of France/ who presided withsuch equanimity over the Councils deliberations in the Month ofNovember. (7)The Ambassador, as we all expected, conducted the businessof this Council with a display of the skill and maturity to which wehave all become accustomed.///Under his presidency we dealt suc-cessfully with several items of major importance to the internationalcommunity and sought to maintain the dignity and to fulfil the re-sponsibilities of this Council.////We all owe him a deep debt of grati-tude. 序言 本書于1981年8月寫成。中國對外翻譯出版公司于1984年2月出版發(fā)行此書之后,作者曾收到國內(nèi)不少年輕在職譯員的來信,表示此書對他們的工作頗有幫助。有的來信表示已利用工作之余做完書中的大部分練習(xí),感到有收獲;有的來信還同時表示,希望此書再版,因他們的親友掃興地獲悉此書已售完。另據(jù)友人告,國外的一些大學(xué),包括美國和英國的培訓(xùn)口譯人員的研究生院,也采用此書作為一種教材或指定讀物?! 「鶕?jù)中國對外翻譯出版公司的要求,作者利用業(yè)余時間對此書作了修訂。刪去了一些時間性過強的段落或練習(xí),代之以更典型的或年輕口譯人員更有參考價值的篇章或?qū)嵗?,以饗讀者?! ∽髡叩墓ぷ鹘?jīng)歷和水平者有局限性,敬希讀者指正?! $娛隹住 ?991年5月于北京圖書封面
