內(nèi)容概要

　　本書的編寫以專業(yè)四級(jí)考試大綱為指導(dǎo)，選材力求新穎、真實(shí)，大多來源于《讀者文摘》、《華盛頓郵報(bào)》、《新聞周刊》、《衛(wèi)報(bào)》和《每日電訊》等其他外刊或節(jié)選；難度中等，關(guān)鍵詞匯不超四級(jí)大綱的范圍；每篇長度在400~500字左右。題材包括社會(huì)科學(xué)（社會(huì)、經(jīng)?濟(jì)、教育、心理、傳播、日常知識(shí)、文化）、人文科學(xué)（文學(xué)評(píng)論、語言、影視、文學(xué)、人文傳記）、自然科學(xué)（醫(yī)學(xué)、生物學(xué)、信息科學(xué)、科學(xué)史、科技）等。在每種題材中，力求體裁多樣，包括記敘文、說明文、議論文等，題目設(shè)計(jì)全面，包括細(xì)節(jié)題、推斷題、主旨題、詞匯題等，并且對(duì)每篇文章都注明了原文出處、字?jǐn)?shù)、建議閱讀時(shí)間等。除了對(duì)答案進(jìn)行解析，還增加了篇章解析、重點(diǎn)、難點(diǎn)詞匯、重點(diǎn)句型和擴(kuò)展詞匯，供考生有針對(duì)性地練習(xí)。

作者簡介

鄒申
上海外國語大學(xué)教授、博士生導(dǎo)師。長期擔(dān)任英語專業(yè)本科和研究生課程教學(xué)，多年來組織、參與英語專業(yè)考試的相關(guān)工作及英語專業(yè)教學(xué)大綱與考試大綱的修訂工作。所主持的科研項(xiàng)目及主編教材多次獲教育部和上海市教學(xué)成果獎(jiǎng)。
張艷莉
上海外國語大學(xué)教授、博士、碩士生導(dǎo)師。多年來，一直從事英語專業(yè)本科和研究生課程教學(xué)，多次參與英語專業(yè)四、八級(jí)考試的閱卷及相關(guān)工作。曾參與考試大綱的研究及修訂工作。近年來完成教材、論文、教學(xué)參考書等多部（篇），參與的科研
項(xiàng)目及教材編寫兩次獲上海市教學(xué)成果獎(jiǎng)。

　　It is wrong to suggest， as some have， that I would be so callous as to advocate the immediateremoval of thousands of TANF recipients； to do so only spreads fear among recipients instead of advancing a solution. But I am firmly committed to a five-year limitation， with exemptions for tho se who face severe barriers to employment —— as long as it is part of a full-scale program redesign.　　For real transformation to take place， the mayor and the D.C. Council must rapidly change our system to include participation from every city agency， as well as the private sector， and employtheir collective expertise and resources to help beneficiaries change their lives.　　To begin， we can act immediately to improve the delivery of job training services to 10，600families deemed "ready to work". Our six existing job training vendors receive a bonus for work placement and retention， but they provide services to only 6，900 families. Consequently， tho usands of families face one- to-two-year waiting periods for training.　　Rather than terminating these contracts because they have not met the recipients' needs，the Departmenl of Human Services has allowed the contracts to continue. Why would the Fentyadministration make sanctions for noncompliance by individuals receiving benefits a priority instead of increasing the capacity of job training and education programs administered by these contractors？It is only now， years after the problems became apparent， that DHS has a plan to prepare new requirements and solicit new vendors.　　......
