章節(jié)摘錄
Optical illusions occur when we perceive visual images that actually are not as we perceive them to be. Other ways to express this are to say, “What you see is not what you think you see,”or “You cant believe your eyes.” In optical illusions, a perception does not conform to an objective measurement. One of two lines may appear to be longer than the other, even though measurement shows them to be exactly the same length. Two colored areas in a picture may look lighter or darker than one the other, although they can be proven to have identical coloration. A basketball seen in one setting may look much bigger in a different setting, although the basketball is the same size in both cases. How do optical illusions occur? Sometimes they are physiological in character. In other words, they result from certain processes in our bodies. An example is the spot that forms momentarily in your vision after you see a flash of very bright light. The perception of a“green spot”immediately following the flash is an illusion produced as your eyes adjust to a sudden, excessive stimulus.
