內(nèi)容概要

《大學(xué)生英語閱讀精選》是為配合大學(xué)英語教學(xué)而編選的一套英語讀物，計劃在兩年內(nèi)共編四集，現(xiàn)在與讀者見面的是其第二集。    《大學(xué)生英語閱讀精選》（第二集），按題材（subject matter）分成10個單元，共收選文30篇。選文大多取自近年來出版的英美報刊書籍，語言清新，體裁多樣，有故事、隨筆、雜感、短評及新聞報道等。在編選過程中，為確保原作的“真實(shí)性”（authenticity），不隨意改動原文，即使對少數(shù)篇幅過長的文章，也只是略加刪節(jié)，而不作任何文字上的“加工”。    《大學(xué)生英語閱讀精選》的每篇選文，都配有適量的閱讀和翻譯練習(xí)?！袄斫鈾z測”（Comprehension Check），旨在提高讀者語篇水平上的閱讀理解能力，確保讀者對整個文章——從主題思想到主要細(xì)節(jié)以至語言難點(diǎn)——的全面理解。    至于“佳句試譯”（Selected Sentences for Translation Practice）這一練習(xí)的設(shè)置，不僅僅著眼于為讀者提供翻譯實(shí)踐的機(jī)會。由于所選的語句，大多是文章的精髓、也是難點(diǎn)所在，讀者反復(fù)琢磨、玩味之余，自然會對文章有更深入的理解。    閱讀應(yīng)該是一種享受，而不該視為一種負(fù)擔(dān)。享受閱讀，尋求書中的逸趣，乃是學(xué)習(xí)求知的最高境界。編者深信，在高等學(xué)府的莘莘學(xué)子中，勤于開卷、深得閱讀意趣的，大有人在。編者之所以致力編選這樣一套貼近現(xiàn)實(shí)窗口、力求融“趣味、知識、哲理”于一體的英語讀物，也正是基于這一信念。但愿《大學(xué)生英語閱讀精選》一書，能為這一讀者群所喜歡，并最終成為當(dāng)今大學(xué)生們的生活之友。
