章節(jié)摘錄

插圖:The Spring-perceiving Pavilion is the mostideal place to enjoy the sights in the easternpart of Kunming Lake. Every spring, when theice in the lake has melted, the islet will be-come green and pink with willows and peachblossoms to herald spring. Sitting in thepavilion, one can see the Longevity Hill in thenorth with golden and glazed structures half-hidden among green pines, the misty distanthills and pagodas reflected in the lake in thewest, the Seventeen-arch Bridge in the southjoining island and lake shore like a rainbow, and the Pavilion of the God of Literature withits painted beams and rafters close in the east. Looking into the distance across the lake, one will find that the horizon is interspersedwith a low island, tall pavilions, flat bridgesand the Pavilion of the God of Literature. Itincreases the perspective and produces asense of movement. For this reason, theSpring-perceiving Pavilion is a perfect spotfor enjoying the scenery.

《走進(jìn)頤和園(英文版)》介紹了:The Summer Palace, or Garden of Harmonious Peace (Yi He Yuan), in the northwestern part of Beijing was originally an imperial garden and travel lodge in the Qing dynasty.Despite the devastations it has suffered in the past, including burning-down by the AngloFrench Allied Forces and plunder by the Allied Forces of Eight Powers, it is still attracting many visitors with its picturesque scenery and immense historical value.
