《精讀英語教程》第四冊為英語專業(yè)精讀課的教材，主要供二年級學(xué)生在第二學(xué)期使用。全書共有五個(gè)主題單元：Quest for Meaning,Content and Form,Critique,The Spirit of Science of Thought。從總體上講，第四冊更趨完整，課文內(nèi)容更具挑戰(zhàn)性，各種練習(xí)與課文之間的配合也更密切，更求實(shí)效?！　≌n文的練習(xí)包括七個(gè)部分：Pre-reading Discussion,Understanding the Text,Vocabulary Development,Expression & Structure,Discussion Forum,Translation,Writing Practice?！　∶恳粏卧獌?nèi)還配有推薦書目，目的在于增加學(xué)生的閱讀量，勞于讀書，逸于作文，既擴(kuò)展他們的視野，也為比類之盛，有利于學(xué)生寫作時(shí)的仿效。此外，每個(gè)單元之后均附一份閱讀中存在的問題，促使他們學(xué)會有效的閱讀方法。
