國際學(xué)術(shù)交流英語

前言

　　隨著我國研究生教育的發(fā)展和高等院校國際化水平的提高，國際間學(xué)術(shù)交流活動日益增多，研究生的英語綜合應(yīng)用能力和學(xué)術(shù)交流技巧直接影響到了跨文化交流的效果。傳統(tǒng)的研究生英語教材多以閱讀為主，忽視語言綜合技能的訓(xùn)練，特別是缺乏實用性的內(nèi)容，導(dǎo)致語言學(xué)習(xí)的針對性不強，學(xué)與用不能結(jié)合。鑒于這種情況，在需求分析的基礎(chǔ)上，結(jié)合教學(xué)實際和研究生的培養(yǎng)目標(biāo)，我們編寫了這本（（國際學(xué)術(shù)交流英語》，力求以新的教材編寫理念向?qū)W生提供規(guī)范、實用的英語語言和文化知識，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生跨文化交際的意識和從事國際學(xué)術(shù)交流活動的能力。本書以研究生為主要讀者，本科生在高年級可作為選修課教材使用?！　　秶H學(xué)術(shù)交流英語》以學(xué)術(shù)交流為主線，對國際會議準(zhǔn)備階段和進(jìn)行過程中的各個方面進(jìn)行了較完整的講述。全書共分六個章節(jié)，每個章節(jié)設(shè)立一個主題，每個主題三項任務(wù)，涉及國際會議的準(zhǔn)備、學(xué)術(shù)信件的交流、論文寫作、會議主持和發(fā)言等內(nèi)容?！　　秶H學(xué)術(shù)交流英語》具有以下特色：　　1．目的明確，實用性強　　本書旨在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生進(jìn)行國際學(xué)術(shù)交流的能力，使學(xué)生能夠了解國際會議的有關(guān)規(guī)則，學(xué)習(xí)學(xué)術(shù)交流所需的知識，能較熟練地運用聽、說、讀、寫、譯等各項技能。本書強調(diào)學(xué)以致用，突出選材的實用性，構(gòu)建學(xué)術(shù)交流的場景，營造語言應(yīng)用的環(huán)境。2．編排新穎，內(nèi)容豐富本書以任務(wù)式教學(xué)法為主導(dǎo)，把相關(guān)的知識和技能分解為不同的任務(wù)板塊，學(xué)生通過完成學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù)達(dá)到融會貫通所學(xué)知識的目的。全書內(nèi)容豐富、語言真實、貼近實際。除了提供大量的實例和多樣的練習(xí)外，還對語言點和知識點進(jìn)行了注釋，課后列舉了相關(guān)學(xué)習(xí)網(wǎng)站的網(wǎng)址和參考書目，以便學(xué)生進(jìn)行進(jìn)一步的查詢和探索。

　　This accelerated ageing process is even more dramatic in Asia. In the last halfcentury, Asias total population almost tripled, rising from 1.4 billion to 3.7 billion.Those aged 65 and over, however, grew by almost four times, from 57 million to 217million. The future will see even greater ageing. While the total Asian populationmay grow from 3.7 billion to 6.4 billion from 2000 to 2050, those aged 65 and overmay grow from 217 million to 907 million, or an increase of more than four times.Moreover, the number of really old people in Asia, those aged 80 and over, has grownfrom about 4 million in 1950 to 29 million in 2000, and will grow to over 225 millionby 2050.　　Population ageing has a great impact on the society and economy. It bringsabout a shrinking of the workforce, an increasing social security burden, and a majorchange in family structure and medical problems. As women represent the largernumber and proportion of older people in almost all societies, the issue also hasimportant gender implications. On the other hand, the positive aspect of ageing is thatthe elders have more time to contribute to the society with their rich experience of lifeand work.　　UNFPA" has been actively involved in ageing issues for many years. It hasworked with many countries to formulate appropriate public policies and promotepolicy dialogues to respond to the challenges posed by the social, health and economicconsequences of population ageing. It has also assisted many countries to meet theneeds of older persons, with particular emphasis on the poor and especially women.　　The UNFPA Policy Guidelines on Ageing provide measures, which caneffectively respond to the needs, expectations and rights of older persons. Theyinclude the following:　　Focus on the older poor, withdevelopment and poverty-reduction strategies;　　Examine the economic, social and cultural implications of population anddemographic changes, and how they relate to development concerns;　　Promote the implementation of adequate policies and programs for active ageing,including life-long education and training, and the full participation of olderpersons in community life;　　Recognize and support the care-giving services provided by grandparents,especially women, to grandchildren orphaned by AIDS.
